A'Kira T.FX.T is the little brother of the Arachon, where the name comes from the Burgenland dialect and means something like "joyful outcry".
Grape Varietal & Region: A'kira T.FX.T is made from 100% autochthonous Blaufränkisch grapes. The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the Burgenland region, and reflects the elegance of the Blaufränkisch grape and the terroir of poor slate soils.

Taste Profile: Pure Blaufränkisch with a fruity nose of plums and cherries, very harmonious and encouraging to drink. Versatile food companion.

Winemaking Process: 18 months in 500 liter barrels and large wooden barrels
Tibor Szemes, FX Pichler and Manfred Tement joined forces in the mid-1990s. Connected by a deep friendship, they had the vision of a great Austrian red wine, into which all their experience should flow. Their passion for red wine and the model of great French red wines have inspired the T.FX.T trio to this joint project.

The history of the winery begins with the construction of a castle cellar in Esterhazy Castle in Eisenstadt over 300 years ago and represents the new beginning of wine production in the entire area of ​​what is now northern Burgenland. Wines typical of the area and variety at an absolute top level in connection with a clear Esterhazy signature is the driving force behind the Esterhazy winery.

Sauvignon Blanc

Weingut Esterhazy's Estoras Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is a refreshing and vibrant wine that showcases the unique terroir of the Leithaberg region of Austria. The wine is crisp and bright with lively citrus and tropical fruit notes, as well as a mineral undertone that speaks to its origin.

Winemaker Stefan Tscheppe employs biodynamic and organic practices in the vineyard, and the grapes are carefully hand-harvested to ensure only the highest quality fruit is used. In the cellar, the wine is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and aged on its lees for added complexity and texture.

Chardonnay

Weingut Esterhazy's Estoras Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC 2021 is a sophisticated and elegant white wine from Austria's Burgenland region. The wine has a beautiful pale gold color with aromas of citrus, apple, and pear, with hints of vanilla and spice. On the palate, it is rich and creamy with flavors of ripe fruit, lemon zest, and a touch of oak.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Leithaberg region of Burgenland, where the vineyards enjoy optimal sun exposure and soil conditions. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for six months, giving it its rich and creamy texture

Weingut Esterhazy Pinot Noir 2020 is a delightful red wine that hails from the Burgenland region of Austria. This wine boasts an inviting bouquet of ripe red fruit, including cherries and raspberries, along with notes of vanilla and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is smooth and well-structured, with fine tannins and a long, satisfying finish.

The winemaking process for this Pinot Noir involves careful selection of the grapes, followed by a gentle fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The result is a wine that beautifully expresses the unique terroir of the region.

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Chardonnay on sandy limestone & loam soils. From the Sankt Margarethen vineyard in Leithaberg, Austra

Taste Profile:Pale straw-yellow. On the nose apricot and crisp pear, paired with hay and delicate toffee, accompainied by flint-stone. On the palate black pepper and a smoky minerality; creaminess and depth from maturation in large oak cask, vibrant acidity creates an elegant drinking pleasure. Long finish!

Winemaking Process: The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and pressed without destemming with the basket press. The grape juice is filled in 500 liters and fermented there spontaneously at 20 to 24 degrees Celsius. 80 percent of the barrels are used, 20 percent new barrels are added every year. The majority of it is Ybbstaler oak from Stockinger. The wine is then stored on the full yeast in these barrels for 9 months. Around 30 percent spontaneously go through malolactic fermentation. In the first 2 months, the yeast was stirred up once a week

Blaufränkisch from Burgenland, Austria. The fruit comes from up to 30 year old vines, grown on limestone with clay-rich black soil.

Taste Profile:Mid salmon pink with gold tints. Restrained, red wild berries, pickled cherry fruit, a hint of chocolate. Substantial, powerful body, hints of cloves, white tropical fruit, subtle fruit sweetness on the finish, good length; a powerful companion for the table.

Winemaking Process: The juice undergoes 8 hours of skin contact, followed by spontaneous fermentation in used oak barrels, and 9 months on lees. 1 month of bottle ageing before release

Typical soils of the Leithaberg are mica schist and ""Leithakalk"" which give the wines depth and a unique mineral note. Cool nights paired with numerous hours of sunshine, proximity to Lake Neusiedl and forested slopes of the Leitha Mountains, are all factors which contribute to the lively freshness of these wines.Their vineyards are located in the districts of Sankt Margarethen, Rust, Sankt Georgen, Eisenstadt, Grosshöflein and Oslip. Structure and depth dominate the characteristics of these wines, presenting a clear impression of the potential of the varying districts.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Grosshöflein, Leithaberg, Austria. Vines of up to 45 years old, grown on loamy black soil on shell limestone

Taste Profile: Medium ruby with a dark core and typical rim brightening. In the nose fine Burgundy notes of wild strawberries and cherries, underlaid with blood oranges and marzipan. The elegant wood note adds complexity. Very elegant and delicate on the palate, the silky tannins and the powerful body provide a great structure.

Winemaking Process: The grapes from our best vineyards are carefully hand-picked and checked again on sorting tables at the winery. The must is first cold macerated for 5 days to extract colour and fruit. The must ferments for 18 days in large 5,500-litre wooden fermenters at 24 to 28 degrees Celsius. This is followed by 14 months of ageing in mostly used 500-litre barrels. After bottling, the wine is left in the bottle for another year to further harmonise.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Blaufränkisch from Grosshöflein, Burgenland, Austria. Up to 20 year old vines grown on clay, sandstone & limestone soils

Taste Profile: Dark ruby ​​red, very dark aromas of sour cherry compote and blackberries on the palate, floral notes of violets and an almost perfumed spice of white pepper . The racy, stimulating acidity and the fine-grained tannins give the wine a velvety structure . Despite its fullness, it is never overloaded, but rather delicate and elegant.

Winemaking Process: Selected grapes are macerated for 14 days & undergo spontaneous fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation. The must is then aged for 18 months in 500L oak barrel, followed by 5 months bottle ageing before release.

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Zweigelt from Saint Georgen, in Leithaberg, Burgenland. The vines are up to 24 years old, grown on sandly loam soils with a limestone bedrock

Taste Profile: With its dark ruby ​​red and violet reflections, the wine is already very lively in the glass. The nose also continues this image. The dark aromas reminiscent of plums, black cherries and cassis are very present in the center. Only well behind are notes of dark chocolate, tobacco and dried herbs. The extremely great juiciness is immediately noticeable on the palate. The tannins are ripe and soft and support the wine quite subtly. It is again the abundance of dark fruit flavors that impresses. The use of wood is skilfully reserved and noble in its aroma. In the complex aftertaste, the white pepper typical of the variety finally comes into its own, which harmonizes perfectly with the dark slate minerals.

Winemaking Process: Hand-picked and feremented for 18 days on the mash, followed by  spontaneous fermentation and BSA. It is then aged for 16 months in 500L wooden barrels (tonneaux) and a further 6 months bottle aging after filling

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Merlot from Sankt Georgen in Burgenland, Austria. From vines up to 40 years old, grown primarily on limestone & mica schist soils

Taste Profile: Intense, opaque ruby ​​red, fruity and spicy on the nose with aromas of blackberries, cassis and black berries, dark chocolate and some graphite, dark fruits on the palate, tannins are pleasantly soft and perfectly integrated, the aftertaste is incredibly complex and long.

Winemaking Process: Selected grapes were fermented on the mash for 18 days in wooden fermentation racks at around 20 degrees Celsius and then aged in tonneaux and barriques for 18 months. This is followed by bottle aging for at least 6 months.

Blaufränkisch from the Sankt Georgen region of Burgenland, Austria. The fruit comes from up to 40 year old vines, grown on limestone & mica schist soils

Taste Profile: Dark ruby ​​garnet, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine aromas of wild dark berries, with hints of liquorice and orange zest, nuances of fine wood in the background. Juicy, red cherry, lively structure, fine tannins, subtle red currant finish, silky and persistent.

Winemaking Process: The fruit is handpicked and undergoes an 18 day maceration. Spontaneous fermentation is undergone, followed by malolactic fermentation. The must is then aged for 18 months in 500L oak barrels, followed by another 6 months of bottle ageing.

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Blaufrankisch from the single vineyard Grand Cru plot of St Georgner, Leithaberg, Austria

Taste Profile: Deep dark garnet, opaque core, purple tint to narrow rim. Fine nougat, a touch of herbs and leather, black forest berries, tobacco and precious wood spices in the background. Juicy, elegant, fresh red cherries, supporting ripe tannins, very well-structured, mineral, long and persistent; has a good future with further ageing potential.

Weingut Esterhazy's Merlot Ried Schneiderteil 2017 is a full-bodied and complex wine with intense flavors of dark fruits, spices, and oak. The grapes are grown in the prestigious Ried Schneiderteil vineyard and undergo traditional fermentation with extended maceration and barrel aging in French oak for 20 months.

The grapes for this wine are grown in the Ried Schneiderteil vineyard, which is known for producing high-quality Merlot grapes. After harvest, the grapes undergo traditional fermentation with extended maceration, which helps extract maximum color and flavor from the skins. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, which imparts complex flavors of vanilla, toast, and spice.

Weingut Esterhazy Beerenauslese 2018 is a dessert wine made from botrytized grapes grown in Burgenland, Austria. The wine has a rich golden color and offers intense aromas of dried apricots, honey, and orange peel. On the palate, it is sweet and luscious with flavors of honeyed apricot and tropical fruit, balanced by bright acidity.

To make this wine, the grapes are left on the vine until they are fully ripe and start to shrivel, allowing botrytis (or ""noble rot"") to develop. The grapes are then carefully harvested by hand and undergo a slow fermentation process in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for several months in oak barrels, adding complexity and depth

Chardonnay

Weingut Esterhazy Gelber Muskateller No. 17 Amphora 2022 is a unique wine made from the Gelber Muskateller grape variety, which is grown in the Burgenland region of Austria. What sets this wine apart is the winemaking technique used, as it was fermented and aged in an amphora, giving it a distinctive character and a slightly rustic edge.

The grapes are carefully handpicked and then fermented in the amphora with indigenous yeasts for several weeks. The wine is then aged in the same vessel for a few months, allowing it to develop its unique flavor profile. The result is a refreshing and aromatic wine with notes of citrus, peach, and flowers, and a subtle minerality.

The winemaker, Weingut Esterhazy, is a family-owned winery with a long history of producing high-quality wines. Their commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices is evident in the purity and expression of their wines.

 100% Pinot Blanc from 40 year old vines grown on crystalline primary rock, the bedrock of the Leithaberg, which appears here as heavily weathered mica schist, supplemented by sand and marl with a medium lime content

Taste Profile: Intense straw yellow. Herbal notes of fennel and chervil dominate on the nose, along with lime blossom and subtle citrus and yellow apple aromas in the background. Extra dry on the palate with only 1.1 g residual sugar, distinctive, well-integrated acidity that perfectly balances the strong body. Complex aromas of flowers and herbs are also repeated on the palate, the fruit resonates discreetly. In the finish, subtle tannins resonate, giving the wine structure.

Winemaking Process:The wine was fermented spontaneously in used barrels and also underwent malolactic fermentation in them. It was then stored in steel tanks for 6 months and bottled without filtration. The wine thus shows a slight cloudiness, which provides additional shelf life for unsulphured wine

Sankt Margarethen vineyards, grown on limestone soils

Taste Profile: Notes of lychee & fresh pineapple, with bright aromatics & refreshing acidity

Winemaking Process:The fruit is handpicked, and spends a few hours on the skin with 10% whole bunch maceration. Spontaneous fermentation in used Leithaberg Oak barrels, with 5 months ageing on lees with battonage. Bottled unfiltered

Nikolaihof is one of the oldest wine estates in Austria and even has some features dating back to the Roman Empire. The Saahs family took over the winery in 1894, carrying on the winemaking tradition that the Germanic monks had established there.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Gruner Veltliner from Im Weingebirge, Wachau, Austria, from vines with an average age of 47 years old. The soil is varied with loess on the higher terraces and deep topsoil over primary rock lower down the slope

Thought to be the oldest documented vineyard, the name “Im Weingebirge” dates back to the 5th Century. The wines from this vineyard are known to have impressive depth and minerality.

Taste Profile: Lemon yellow. The aroma of the Federspiel Im Weingebirge is somewhat reminiscent of cooling biscuit dough, biscuits and a little caramel with lemon curd, ripe apple and physalis with a slight hint of ripeness. There is also a little petrol and rooibos in the background. With air some dry herbs and orange slices mix into the aroma. The texture of this Grüner Veltliner is stunningly elegant and silky. The acidity is both ripe and silky, lively and persistent. 

WInemaking Process: Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts in Austrian oak vats. It then ages for 6 months in 2,000 to 12,000 litre wooden foudres before being bottled.

Vom Stein is a sub-site of the Silberbichel vineyard and is a slight incline, sloping east. Nikolaihof makes beautiful wines from this vineyard. Smaragd is the highest level of quality in Austrian wines. 

Grape Varietals & Region: This Riesling thrives majestically on soils of loam, loess and Danube gravel

Taste Profile: The 2017 Riesling Smaragd Vom Stein unfolds an enticing spectrum of scents. Aromas of yellow fruits such as apricot and mirabelle plum meet lemon peel and the nuance of lily of the valley oil. This fragrance is characterised by a breathtaking freshness, coupled with an intense minerality and a cool sophistication. Its minerality presents itself strikingly and is underpinned by a fine tannin. Its long finish, marked by intense fruit, is unsurpassed. A mature wine that combines expression and intensity.

Winemaking Process: With respect for nature, this wine is made solely by fermentation with the natural yeast found in the grapes. Additives such as sugar, enzymes and flavour enhancers have no place in this process. After a careful storage of two and a half years in large, old wooden barrels, the wine is finally bottled on a fruit day

A fascinating jewel from Nikolaihof: a wine of stone and fruit with abundant and constantly renewed aromas. It is a concentrate of soil and energy, of insolent youth.

Grape Varietals & Region: This single-plot Riesling comes from an approximately 25-year-old vine planted on the “Steiner Gaisberg”. On this high altitude terroir (between 350 and 400 meters) laid out in terraces, the soils are quite thin (50 centimeters maximum) and stony. The root system of the vine quickly penetrates into a crystalline subsoil of paragneiss, which will give the wine this intensely mineral dimension, perfectly intertwined with the crunch of the fruit and an irresistible sensation of floral and honeyed voluptuousness.

Taste Profile: At first nose, it is the stony nature of the soil which is expressed, with notes of pumice, cold ash and oil.

A minerality quickly overtaken by the delicious brightness of the fruit, around apricot, quince paste, yellow peach and pineapple, but also by an irresistible sensation of sweetness and floral voluptuousness: we think of honey candies, flower pistils loaded with pollen, we think of acacia, violet and lavender, we think of rose fields near Grasse (as surprising as that may seem!), to bees busy foraging in lush gardens with rare species.

Blend of 60% Blaufränkisch, 20% Zweigelt and 20% Carbernet Sauvignon. The fruit for this wine comes from vines growing in the mica slate soils of top vineyards in central Burgenland, including the top Hochberg location.
